Co-operatives Australia has published a new statement on Valuing Co-operation - a paper that affirms the importance of co-operatives recognising that demutualisation is not inevitable; that a subsequent loss of member ownership and control has significant consequences; that there are alternative strategic and structural choices, and that balanced information is the prerequisite to informed choice. This is the fourth statement issued by Co-operatives Australia. The preceding three were (a) Public Policy and Co-operatives (b) Australia's Top 100 Co-operatives, Credit Uniuons and Mutuals and (c) Co-operative Education.
